Human Ping Pong?

Saturday morning we were all getting ready to go to the Kidsfaire. My kids have been looking forward to going all week, so it was easy to get them going. Isabelle ran and got in the shower, where, evidently, she played an impromptu game of human ping pong. She fell and split her chin open--poor girl!! When we got to the ER, I realized that as a responsible adult, I needed to know what happened. As she told me what happened, I couldn't help but picture a game of human ping pong. "First, I slipped and hit my head on this wall" ding, "then I hit my head on the other wall" ping, "then I fell straight down and hit my chin on the edge of the tub" pong, "and slid down into the tub" screeeee (I can hear my girl sliding down the tub!). Long story short, she was given the option of stitches or steery (sp) strips as long as she didn't get them wet. Well, as this is the child that ran away from the nurse the last time at the doctors office when she had to get one little shot, she opted immediately for the strips! She can now be seen sporting what I'm sure will be a new fashion trend among elementary students. So, now at least when your child wants a couple of pieces of white strips taped to their chin, you will know why! If they want the matching black and blue bruises, the instructions on how to obtain them are above!

Catching the Moon!

The weather has finally started to cool down! Hooray!! We've been enjoying hanging out outside in the evenings now that it is cooler. About a week ago we went out and found a beautiful full moon, and I tried to convince the girls that I hung it for them. For some reason they didn't buy it (I suspect they already know that it was their dad!). They had fun trying to catch it, regardless of how it got there!

Student of the Month!

Isabelle was Student of the month for the month of August. She, and her friend Cassidy, were chosen by their classmates to be the students of the month because they both display the character trait of trustworthiness. We are sooo proud of her!!

Grandma Hunsaker Turns 90!

Beau (Tom will be referred to with his first name throughout this post to avoid any confusion that may arise between he and his namesake! (And because I like it!)) and I had the opportunity to go to Utah last weekend to celebrate his paternal grandmother's 90th birthday. It was a great time! We got to see all of his cousins and aunts an uncles that we don't get to see very often. It was also a neat experience because ten years ago, while we were engaged, I went with Beau to meet his extended family at her 80th birthday bash! How time flies!!

Fun Day!

Isabelle and I went to the scrapbook day yesterday and made these fun school days portfolios. There are folders inside to hold special papers from each school year. Isabelle's is the one with the white flower (which she made on her own), and Ava's is the other. Aren't they adorable!?





We took a family walk in the afternoon, and get this, locked ourselves out! How, you may ask. Well, a few days ago I thought we should change the pin number on our exterior garage door pad, and succeeded in erasing the old code, but evidently, didn't get the new code programmed in. So, we left, pushing the garage door button from the inside and jumping the sensor, only to get home and realize we couldn't get back in! No keys with us--I was trying to pick the back garage door with my hair clip (doesn't work FYI!). Finally, we noticed the window in our upstairs spare room was unlocked, so Beau ran over to the Pribyl's to borrow a ladder. (Thank you for the gatorade btw, we were soooo thirsty!) Unfortunately, their ladder wasn't tall enough, but, luckily, the Barry's across the street did!!! Yeah!!! They saved the day for us! Needless to say, after a day of Olympics and walking in the heat and then hanging out outside our house in the heat, we all slept well!!

The Olympics!!

The Olympics are alive and well in the Hunsaker house! For the last two weeks we've religiously been watching the Olympics. Yesterday morning I put the girls to work doing their chores. I came back to find them timing each other as they vacuumed the stairs and yelling to each other, "Hurry! Get the gold!!" It was pretty dang cute!





The games became more intense a little later in the day! They set up their own birds nest in Ava's room and had at it. Here they are diving.

First Day of School!

Isabelle's first day of school was on Tuesday! Second grade, here she comes!

Ava has been missing her playmate this week. :(
