Kocherhans Family Reunion!

The one time a family reunion is actually in my neck of the woods, and Ava has to go and get hers hurt!! I was the only one from our fam to make it because we were at the ER the night before, but it was a great time. My maternal grandmother's family had a reunion, and it was here in Phoenix! It was fun to meet all of them, and to see what a talented and amazing family I come from! (I now know where Isabelle's voice came from!)

My grandma and grandpa.

My grandma with her brothers and spouses.

Jay, Gib, Art, Art's wife Marie, Grandma, Grandpa
Jay's wife, Rex's wife Mary

The Ladd's representation (My mom would have been there too if not for some unforeseen events:) )

Anni, Cindy, Becky, Grandma, Grandpa (Christel and Marcus not there)

A few of the family groups--a few broke up before I could snap their pics, but here's what I got.

Finally...

Isabelle's thumb nail fell off!! It took a while, but we made it. First, a gross blackened nail. Then, it started to pull away. Then, it pulled away some more. And just when I thought it would be hanging like that forever--grandpa Hunsaker came to the rescue and clipped that ugly thing off!! Yea!!

New Dresses!

Thank you Grandma!

Thanks Pete and Mandoid!

Uh-oh...We're in trouble!

Need anything more be said.

The rest of the story....

As some of you may have heard, our dog bit Ava. But, I need to clear things up--for Loverboy's sake. When it happened none of us saw what happened and Ava wouldn't tell us. Naturallty, we assumed he bit her. While at the ER, the doctor commented that it may have been a claw, but by this time Ava had heard us all saying he bit her, and so was still saying he bit her, but that was all she would say. This happened on Friday, and all weekend she wouldn't talk about it, she would only cry--this has been traumatic for her. Finally, this morning, I had a chance to talk with her, just she and I, and it appears that it may not have been a vicious bite after all, but an accidental claw.
I feel so bad for Ava's poor little face--she ended up with eleven stitches. But, she bounces back quickly, and, while she doesn't necessarily want to pet Loverboy, she watches him through the sliding glass door and makes sure he is taken care of--telling me to get him more water, he's thirsty, or that he needs a few more toys.
I am really glad we didn't react to quickly. I was really struggling with this, because, darn it, I really LOVE him. I am glad it wasn't what we thought, and I feel really bad for not keeping his nails in better condition. I usually run with him and that kept his nails trimmed, but I stopped running with him a few months ago and have forgotten to take care of them.
We are currently looking for a new home for Loverboy (and it turns out that name does, in fact, fit him).

(Notice--still smiling!!)

More Memorial Day Fun

Splash park style!

The stairs were too hot, but Ava figured it out!

Surprise Memorial Day Parade!!

What's a parade without sheriff Joe!

Or SWAT.

Not one...

Not two...

But, THREE sets of golden granny pom squads!!

She's fallen and can't.....wait, no, she was just doing the splits! (I wasn't the only one confused--notice that other guy trying to help her get back up. She was pushing him off, a little ticked she was getting "Oh no"'s instead of "Ooooh"'s and "Ahhh"'s.)
